What to choose
The incredible amount of images that can be captured with a digital camera can overwhelm the decision making process when it comes to choosing what images make the cut.
For me this can take the joy out of photography. It’s akin to having all the movie streaming services and still finding nothing to watch. Shooting film narrows the focus. Less choice means higher grade decision making right from the moment of capture.
This image was one of 8 images captured of this caravan recently for my ongoing series ‘Old caravans in the wild’using my film camera. If I was shooting on my professional digital camera, I think i may have shot perhaps 4-5 times that amount.
Would I still have arrived as choosing this one to represent that series? Maybe not but the process of capture and editing was a much more heightened, defined and enjoyable experience.
