Hiatus

After 25 years of being obsessed by photography, working as a photographer and tying my life’s identity to photography, I decided to take an intentional hiatus. I was burnt out.

It took me 4 years to get back into photography. The only reason? A solo trip to stay in an old caravan with the intent on having some quiet time and to read a book on Stoicism.

I had on display in my studio my Grandfather’s camera, a Minolta Hi matic 7s. It always intrigued me as to if it would work and had never given it a run so just for some fun I also took it along and some old film I had stored in the fridge that was 20+ years old. I loaded my first roll of film incorrectly and to my dismay i tore it from it’s internal sprockets. I pulled the full now exposed roll of film from the camera and loaded carefully the next roll. I took a test shot to get the muscle memory and photography juices flowing. Below is the first image I had shot with intent in 4 years (albeit a bit out of focus) that unbeknownst to me kick started my love affair again with photography.
