First Light

Over time I have created some images that I keep returning to. Sometimes it is simply because I love the image. Other times it relates to a story or a feeling I had at the time or a place or space I inhabited during that period.

This image titled ‘Morning light’ has many of those things. I love the way the first rays of light kiss the steam rising from the river, the way it looks like fire - but it is not, and the reflection in the water that amplifies the whole scene.

It was shot for a series I created titled ‘The secret river’ - an ode to the beauty of the often maligned Maribyrnong River near where I live. I printed the series to very large A0 sizes on canvas and exhibited the full series at The Incinerator Gallery which is located along the river itself.
