Time takes its toll

I think it is sadness that compelled me to photograph this broken old windmill. Looking at it now I think it’s a reminder of my mortality. Something once so capable, strong and functional can no longer do what it was designed to do. Still standing, though clearly no longer able to participate. It is both here and gone - time always takes its toll.

It’s only when I sit down and reflect on an individual image that I get a sense of why I chose to take a photograph. At the time I don’t necessarily understand the compulsion.
