Just stare

I share a trait with my mum - that is, we quite enjoy staring out a window at nothing in particular. No purpose to it, just comfortably sitting with time and letting our thoughts softly roll around our heads. It may be mistaken for boredom but it is nothing of the sort.

Photography has some comparisons. It is a gentle action to wander, notice, be a flaneur and occasionally when a moment presents itself as something worth capturing, we click a button in an attempt to suspend time. That way, we get to stare forever into the moment. ‍

Perhaps even, we catch a glimpse of our thoughts in an image. A window into our conscious mind.
