Future uncertain
The future is unwritten.
No matter how hard we look, how much we predict, yearn, ache and strive, we simply can’t know what the future has in store for us. Perhaps a vague sense of what is to come is all we can really lean in to, however that doesn’t make it real or guarantee an outcome.
This can feel unsettling. Furthermore if we don’t have the ability to live within that space of uncertainty, the future could look foreboding. I try my best not to have an expectation on the future. This relives me of disappointment when the future doesn’t live up to my hopes but equally gives me great pleasure as every joy comes not from the anxiety that hope can create.
It’s hard because society teaches us to aim high, to be ambitious and there is nothing wrong with that. The allure of the future though and it’s sirens constant calling, takes us out of the present and the ability to recognise what is right in front of us right now.
