Nattering away
I know I am in a flow state when I start nattering away to myself. Recently I spent a full day doing some mental soothing in the Macedon ranges. It was a very wet day, visibility was down to about twenty metres and deep in the forest it felt like it was almost night time.
I was well equipped with rain gear, beanie and walking boots and I also bought along my macro lens. This was in case I bumped into some of the incredible mushrooms that have popped up recently as Autumn turns to Winter.
About ninety minutes into my three hour walk I noticed that I had started nattering away to myself. My internal dialogue had started to render itself aloud. I was obviously very comfortable being by myself and I had become used to being completely alone. Given the weather was so poor the assumption noone else was around helped that feeling of ease. This was until I inadvertently startled a trail runner who with a smile yelled back ‘geez you scared the shit out of me’ as I popped up from behind a log a little off the track.
