Garage doors

One of my current photography projects is named Garage doors. What it is about, I am as yet unsure. Here are some current thoughts on the project as it develops.

I’m drawn to the simplicity, utilitarian nature and simple aesthetic of the garage door. They are a barrier between what is known and unknown. They hold secrets and seem to be everywhere separating the in from the outside world. They are a security guard. They sit idle, watch the world go by with little fanfare or need to be celebrated. To anthropomorphise they play their role, happy in the knowledge they simply exist. Rarely will they have ever been seen on masse. As a collection it may make for a nice coffee table book.
