Old caravans in the wild
I’m working on a series named ‘Old caravans in the wild’. I love old caravans and indeed am attracted to the design aesthetic and feel of the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s.
I feel more at ease with items from the past. There is no fluff, bluster or pretence. They seem sincere and trustworthy. I wonder how I would feel about them if i lived through those eras.
I enjoy that these caravans are still in existence. They are just being themselves and I can’t help but anthropomorphise them in some sense. Some appear shy, some reluctant to be on camera, some are hidden away like hermits and some are happy with the homes they have found - just happy to be loved no matter their state.
I’m hoping to have an exhibition of these images at some stage that mimics thier existence; suitably low key with little fuss.
As a side note I’m using a Nikon FM2 from 1982 and shooting using Kodak gold 200.
