Like moths to a flame
For many years this was one of my favourite photographs I’d ever made. It was during some down time on a commissioned industrial photography shoot for my company Misheye. It was a very hot night at around 2am and I noticed many bugs attracted to one of the street lights.
I took many images with my Nikon D300 and played with long exposures to track the bugs movement. The camera was on a tripod and I focussed on where the bugs were rather than the street light.
For me it captures time. The more you look the more you see just how many bugs there were and the seemingly random nature of their movement. It certainly isn’t like the biomimicry seen in birds where the flock moves in unison to confuse potential predators. It is every bug for themselves!
